On the Aurora Data Science team, you will join a world-class group whose mission is generating insights and intelligence to improve the Aurora Driver and help accelerate our path towards safe and broad commercialization of Autonomous Vehicle technology. We are looking for an exceptional Data Scientist that can play a key role in accelerating the development of the Aurora Driver by contributing towards the automation, monitoring, and analysis of our development and operational processes. This is an opportunity to leverage vast amounts of data from both online (on-road) and offline (simulation) test modalities to help Aurora achieve its product and commercialization goals.The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives working cross-functionally, getting things done, and has an ability to navigate complex and exciting projects with our partner Software, Hardware, Strategy, Safety, and Operations teams. • Generate actionable insights to drive the development and operation of a commercially viable product, with a focus on our on-road performance and commercial/operational activities.
• Partner closely with stakeholders to design and implement metrics and dashboards to help them measure, understand, and improve decision making, performance, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with a team of world-class Data Scientist and Analysts on Data Science problems spanning commercialization, operations, safety, and autonomy subsystems (eg. Motion Planning, Perception, Controls, etc.)
• Develop statistical models to support performance monitoring, forecasting and planning across a variety of problem areas
• Work closely with operations, engineering, and business leads to support their decisions with data-driven input
• Collaborate with our Data Science and Engineering communities to ensure the adoption of best practices and suggest improvementsRequired Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Analyst or similar technical role
  • Demonstrable proficiency in coding, programming concepts, and technical tools, combined with the enthusiasm and passion to build. Must be strong using Python
  • Strong knowledge and experience using relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and familiarity with best practices for Data Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience with both common and advanced Data Science, inference, and statistical modeling tools (eg. numpy, sklearn, pytorch, etc.)
  • Experience with taking Data Science analysis end-to-end, working closely with Engineering to productionize pipelines, and surface insights in a scalable way
  • Proven ability to communicate technical, data-driven analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences across stakeholders, including translating and cascading Executive input into their workDesirable QualificationsAt Aurora Data Science, we value diverse backgrounds and expertise.     • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field
    • Experience in the Autonomous Vehicle, Robotics, or Advanced Transportation domains
    • Familiarity with data transformation tools such as DBT
    • Experience with ETL pipelines and big data processing frameworks
    • Use of Amazon Web Services (AWS) tools in data workflows
    • Background in safety-critical domains and risk modeling
    • Exposure to Logistics, Fleet Operations, or Network Planning problems
    • Proficiency in technical areas such as Optimization, Machine Learning, or Forecasting
    • Understanding of automotive safety engineering and related best practicesThe base salary range for this position is $162-260K per year. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
