Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose The System Manager, Academic Partnerships
provides system wide support for the development, standardization,
implementation, coordination, evaluation and continuous improvement
of CommonSpirit Health's academic partnerships, relationships, and
joint programs. This includes growing academic partnerships in
support of the national nurse residency program and its outcomes.
This role collaborates with colleges and universities to drive
clinical education alignment with clinical workforce needs, and
includes partnering with CommonSpirit Health nursing, medicine,
allied health, and system stakeholders to innovate programs that
accelerate the healthcare workforce pipeline and transition to
practice for new health care providers and clinicians. The role
represents Academic Partnerships at the system level. This is a
fully remote position.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality, accessibility, and standardization
of academic partnerships, relationships, communications, and
collaborative programs within our ministry
- Designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates joint academic
and clinical programs that facilitate the professional growth and
advancement of students and current and future employees
- Garners excitement and support for building best-in-class
programs, activities, and events and represents CommonSpirit Health
in discussions with prospective and current academic partners
- Supports the implementation, evaluation, and revision of
partnership standards, structures, non-credit and degree-granting
programs, contracts, policy, processes, and operations
- Designs and deploys standardized processes and structures for
holding self and others accountable to program goals system wide,
including the alignment of academic management platforms and
academic affiliation agreements
- Works with system, division, and facility leadership to ensure
processes and structures are deployed consistently across the
system to guarantee expectations are established and accountability
is maintained
- Integrates outcome evaluation with organizational needs
assessment, data, and trends to determine priority partnerships and
monitor program effectiveness, including community benefit and
contributions to healthcare workforce development
- Develops, implements and reports outcomes of program metrics in
alignment with local, regional, state, and national healthcare
industry workforce trends
- Develops and maintains proficiency in the use of academic
management platforms including creation/scheduling/implementation
of events, uploading users, utilization of reporting capabilities,
running quality reports and reporting to leaders
- Provides consultative guidance to college and university
partners in healthcare workforce development
- Researches and recommends innovative strategies and tactics for
healthcare workforce development in order to prepare the workforce
of the future
- Identifies, develops, and obtains grant-funded workforce
development opportunities
- Permeates principles of CommonSpirit Health's mission; nursing
vision; values; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB);
Patient Experience (PEX); into partnerships, relationships and
programs
- Ensures a consistent, principle-driven brand and communications
across the system, ensuring CommonSpirit Health's recognition as a
valuable thought-partner and supporter of the healthcare workforce
through clinical experiences, internships, externships,
returnships, residencies, fellowships and more
- Builds and maintains strategic internal and external
partnerships (e.g., continuing medical education (CME) offices,
human resources, talent acquisition, learning & development,
Dignity Health Global Education, national councils, government
agencies, foundations, State Boards of Nursing, etc.).
- Responsible for clinical employee professional development
planning, in the areas of academic preparation and advancement
(including mentorship, Credit for Prior Learning, articulation, and
joint faculty appointments).
- Ensures a culture of inclusion and diversity Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Required Bachelor's Degree in related discipline; Master's
Degree in Nursing preferred, Doctorate preferred
- Minimum of 2 years leadership and supervisory experience
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience Required Licensure and
Certifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure Required
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
- Experience in healthcare workforce development in higher
education or government settings
- Experience writing and managing state and/or federal
grants
- Experience leading large scale program development,
implementation, and evaluation
- Experience in academic affiliation agreement management
- Emotional intelligence: Self-control, self-awareness,
self-management, social awareness
- Ability to coach and develop others
- Passion (a strong liking or desire for or to some activity,
object, or concept)
