Job Description Our Data & AI organization empowers business digital transformation by providing infrastructure, platform and data science support. We partner with SG&A (Selling, General & Administrative) functions—including Finance, HR, Procurement, Legal, and other business support areas—to deliver advanced analytics, automation, and AI-powered solutions. We offer internship opportunities for PhD students to work on impactful analytics projects that enable smarter decision-making and drive operational excellence. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Conduct applied research in areas such as machine learning, optimization, computer vision, simulation, or AI for manufacturing and operations. Help design and prototype analytics models and intelligent applications (e.g., predictive maintenance, yield optimization, or anomaly detection). Develop and evaluate algorithms for real-time data processing, forecasting, or decision optimization. Support development of AI/ML pipelines and assist in integrating models into enterprise data platforms. Partner with business and IT stakeholders to ensure models align with operational requirements and business goals. Stay current with academic and industry advancements in AI, ML, simulation, and big data analytics, recommending opportunities for adoption. Qualifications Required: Currently pursuing a PhD (graduating 2027) in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics or related field. Strong background in one or more of the following: Machine learning / deep learning / AI model development Operations research, simulation, or optimization algorithms Computer vision or image analytics Predictive modeling or anomaly detection Big data analytics and distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop, or cloud platforms) Proficiency with programming and analytics tools such as Python, Pytorch. Demonstrated ability to translate research concepts into practical, scalable solutions. Collaborative mindset, curiosity, and eagerness to learn from multidisciplinary teams. Preferred: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. LI-TG1 Compensation & Benefits Details An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs. The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future. If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws. You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned. You will be eligible to participate in Sandisk's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
