Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available in Durham, CA, supporting elementary and intermediate school students who are hard of hearing or deaf. This role focuses on facilitating effective communication between students, their hearing peers, teachers, and school personnel to enhance educational experiences. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate communication by providing sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting services in classroom settings. Assist students with academic subjects including reading, writing, and math. Support students in developing vocational and daily living skills. Monitor student activities in classrooms, outdoor settings, and the community. Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure inclusive and accessible learning environments. Qualifications and Experience: Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment is required. Candidates with an EIPA score below 4.0 may be considered and referred as ASL Paraeducators. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential. An Associates Degree in ASL or related field is preferred. Experience working in educational settings with elementary or intermediate school students is highly valued. Position Details: Location: Onsite in Durham, CA. Contract duration: ASAP through 5/28/2026. Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week, six hours per day. Multiple positions available.
