As an Occupational Therapy Assistant you will support the educational and developmental progress of students with special needs by delivering occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, ensuring the highest standards are upheld across multiple school locations and education teams. ? Responsibilities Include: Providing direct occupational therapy interventions to students as specified in their IEPs, ensuring adherence to designated service hours and schedules. Supporting the Occupational Therapist in conducting evaluations by gathering data, administering standardized tests, and observing students to determine their functional abilities and needs. Maintaining accurate and timely records of student progress, including daily notes, progress reports, and other required documentation, in accordance with district and program guidelines. Working closely with education staff to integrate therapy goals into the classroom setting, providing guidance on strategies and accommodations to support student success. Modifying classroom environments, tools, and materials under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist to enhance student participation and access to the curriculum. Assisting in training school staff and parents on the use of adaptive equipment and techniques to support students' functional performance. Ensuring therapy equipment and supplies are in good condition, reporting any need for repair or replacement to the Occupational Therapist. Attending IEP meetings, team meetings, and/or professional development sessions as required, contributing relevant information to support student planning and progress. Adhering to professional and ethical standards in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues, maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating respect for diversity. Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of Spectrum Center Schools and Programs. ? Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy or a closely related field of study. Licensed currently, or in the process of obtaining a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) credential. Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism related disabilities and emotional disturbance. Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in applied behavior analysis (ABA) preferred. Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals and next steps. Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining organization and attention to detail. Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability. Well-versed in the use of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
