DescriptionSummary: The Laboratory Teaching Assistant works collaboratively and under the direction of the Instructor in assuming responsibility for up to 10 students in assigned Laboratory activity.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepares and organizes supplies and equipment for daily instructionAssists with laboratory and classroom instructionTracks equipment and supplies and assists with placingPRS requests for consumable laboratory suppliesCompletes laboratory "turn-over" following lab classesUtilizes eCourses to enter, correct and grade assignmentsMentors students in class and tutoring labs as assignedOther duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Competency: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Core Competencies:Adaptability - Responds to change with a willingness and ability to learn new ways of working. Ability to write simple correspondence, transcribe minutes; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees.Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardize situations.Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and all software programs related to courses to be taught.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust be a registered respiratory therapist (RRT) and maintain a current CA Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) license.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
