Job Description:

The Senior Inventory Accountant performs complex professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of inventory-related financial transactions. Prepare financial statements, and perform analyses to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Company's inventory records. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, merchandising, and manufacturing, to ensure inventory is properly accounted for and valued in accordance with accounting principles. Ensure the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of inventory in the subledger and general ledger for each entity Support the month-end close process for all inventory-related accounts, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and reported in accordance with accounting principles Manage and maintain the accuracy and completeness of inventory records, including reconciling inventory balances to physical counts, analyzing inventory trends, and identifying and resolving discrepancies Prepare work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditing Research and analyze fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts Lead and coordinate planning activities to support the semi-annual physical inventory count for all retail locations and manufacturing facilities, while managing the external service provider to support the physical inventory process Manage communication to retail locations, ensuring validity of physical inventory count results from the external inventory service provider Assist with periodic inventory price testing and other internal control functions Develop and implement inventory-related policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements Work closely with cross-function teams, including operations, merchandising, and manufacturing, to ensure inventory is properly accounted for and valued Work with independent auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements Assist business partners with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities Review the work completed by the bookkeepers, bank reconcilers and accounts payable clerks to ensure accurate financial transactions Support ongoing documentation of processes/reporting for all inventory accounting functions Job Specifications Typically has the following skills or abilities: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience 4+ years of accounting-related experience, including working in a lead and/or training capacity preferred 4+ years of experience using accounting and auditing principles and practices, including GAAP Experience in an inventory accounting role, including experience with physical inventory counts Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to inventory, including cost accounting and inventory valuation Demonstrated ability in working with and managing inventory systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in spreadsheet applications Clean credit history as reported by credit report #LI-REMOTE #LI-VISIONCARE Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets.Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
