POSITION SUMMARY:Under general supervision, the Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger (GL) system administration, maintaining the chart of accounts, and preparing financial reports, account analyses and reconciliations in support of the financial close cycle, regulatory compliance filings, and the management. Employees in this job class perform general accounting functions in the areas of general ledger, cost accounting, fixed assets, tax accounting, and internal and external audit support. . This job class requires knowledge of basic accounting principles (U.S. GAAP) and the ability to use and apply independent judgment and thought to a variety of accounting and systems issues.TYPICAL DUTIES:---Analyzes general ledger accounts and variances; provides analysis and reporting to support routine and ad hoc management requests; identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies; recommends solutions to accounting issues including proposed process changes.---Prepares journal entries, routine and ad-hoc accounting schedules, and account reconciliations to support month-end and year-end close, internal and external audits, and regulatory compliance filings.---Reconciles and analyzes capital expenditures; plans for and coordinates recording of fixed asset transactions; responsible for preparing and posting monthly depreciation.---Responsible for maintaining the GL chart of accounts mapping in the ERP system to ensure proper interfacing with other systems and the financial reporting database.---Generates the monthly financial reporting package and prepares a full set of financial statements for management review;---Manages and reconciles general ledger accounts as assigned.---Supports the Controller with implementing and testing accounting systems, accounting processes, and financial reports.---Assists with developing and implementing accounting processes and procedures; assists with cross-training others in the proper execution of accounting procedures; proposes and implements accounting process improvements.---Provides timely and appropriate customer service in response to accounting inquiries from internal departments.---Analyzes tax accounts, gathers data, and prepares time-sensitive tax forms with proper supporting documentation to ensure the Company---s compliance with regulatory requirements as required by each state or jurisdiction; coordinates timely tax payments and periodic tax audits.---Coordinates set up for new vendor accounts in the ERP system; corresponds with internal customers and vendors to obtain approvals and supply required documentation such as credit information, resale certificates and tax setup information.---Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:---Associate---s Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting or Finance; or comparable combination of formal education and work experience;---Three (3) or more years progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance reporting is preferred;---Knowledge of basic accounting principles (U.S. GAAP); knowledge of general departmental operations, organization policies, applicable laws, procedures, and processes;---In-depth knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting configurations;---Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;---Proficient in responding appropriately to audit requests and preparation of financial statements.
