Position: Project AccountantLocation: Local/RemoteType: Full-time, benefits-eligible; Non-exemptr> Reports to: PresidentThe Project Accountant fulfills various duties and responsibilities providing the project teams with accounting support. They must work closely with project managers to review project budgets, assist with resource scheduling, update projects statuses, prepare project billings and perform accounts receivable collection activities. This position reports to the President.Typical duties include: - Effectively communicate with Project Managers and Principals regarding project finances including budgeting, spent, profitability, project billings, and update projects accordingly - Set up new projects to meet contract and billing requirements - Set up any required additional services phases after project reviews with Project Managers - Follow-up with Project Managers or Principals to ensure additional service authorizations are timely obtained from clients - Prepare and monitor pre-billing reports distributed to Project Managers - Assist with preparing final project invoices - Review the status of projects with Project Managers including project and phase percent complete, necessary modifications to scheduled resources, updated project schedules, and actual versus budget comparisons - Review receivables and make necessary collection contacts with clients using the documented accounts receivable collection process, document all collection efforts for review by the President, and effectively communicate with Project Managers or Principals any issues identified by clients during the collection process - Generate and distribute regular interval receivables reports and monthly project profitability reports to the President, Principals, and Project Managers - Prepare any special project analyses for the President, Principals, or Project Managers - Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing potential for the billing periods - Perform additional assignments, as directed by the President.Desired Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in accounting or business preferred; At a minimum, the applicant should have an Associate's Degree in accounting or business. - Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, and proficiency in using accounting software (experience with Deltek accounting and project management software a significant plus, e.g., Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint, or Ajera) - At least three years of billing and receivables experience in a professional services firm - A thorough knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lump sum, not-to-exceed, and how they are applied in the billing process. - Ability to work with others under deadline situations and ability to respond to changes in priorities - Good written and strong interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational skills - Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and follow through with projects until completion - Ability to employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and ability to prepare accurate and concise reports to the President/CEO - Strong service orientation - Knowledge of the project structure and contract terms in a client/consultant business environment - Although preferred that the applicant is local, the most qualified applicant may be remote as long as in the Pacific or Mountain time zone and willing to travel to the main office in Sacramento approximately monthly to quarterly (TBD) for a day or two at a time at the company's expense.Company: Capital Engineering Consultants, Inc.
